Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad (MARC) will launch its MARC 360: PROPERTY RECHARGE 2020 webinar series on September 17, 2020. Officiated by Dato' IR Soam Heng Choon, President of REHDA Malaysia, the series comprises six weekly webinars that will cover key issues in the domestic property market. UEM Sunrise Berhad is a gold sponsor for the event, with Cagamas Berhad, DMIA Sdn Bhd, Itramas Corporation Sdn Bhd, Kenanga Investment Bank, RHB Investment Bank, Sunway Group and WCT Holdings Berhad onboard as silver sponsors.
The first segment in the webinar series, Malaysian Property Sector Outlook and Trends, encompassing webinars 1 and 2, will present an overview of the current post-COVID-19 domestic property sector. There will also be a discussion on the lack of affordability of local housing, with the average price of housing standing at RM 428,940 according to National Property Information Centre (NAPIC), despite Bank Negara Malaysia defining affordable housing to be below RM300,000.
The second segment, which encompasses webinars 3 and 4, will touch on the creation of sustainable communities and cities, and the associated benefits and obstacles. Key environmental, sustainability and governance (ESG) trends in the local property sector, which largely follow the requirements set by both the Malaysia Green Building Confederation and Malaysia Green Building Index in 2009, will also be highlighted.
The Mega Developments and Market Timing in the Domestic Property Sector segment, which is the final segment comprising webinars 5 and 6, will provide an update on the recent progress of mega development projects in the domestic property sector. There will also be a discussion on the importance of market timing in the domestic property sector from the perspective of the relevant stakeholders.
The webinar series will serve as a platform for property-centric conversations between players, issuers, investors, regulators and industry experts; with an aim of providing 360 degrees of in-depth discussions on critical property market trends, issues and solutions.
