In two private events held earlier this month, MARC made donations to asnaf students from two higher learning institutions as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative for 2022. The donations, amounting to RM57,500, comprised zakat deductions from MARC staff which were obtained from Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP).
MARC’s central theme for its CSR initiative this year is education, with a focus on alleviating students’ financial burden. 115 asnaf students from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and University of Malaya (UM) were the recipients of the donations, presented by MARC Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Jamaludin Nasir.

“At MARC, we are a strong advocate of education as we believe it is the backbone of a robust and meaningful society. As such, we are honoured and grateful for the opportunity to present our zakat contributions to the asnaf students of IIUM and UM,” said Datuk Jamaludin. “We hope the donations will help to ease the students’ financial burden, thus enabling them to focus on their studies. We pray for their success and wish them all the very best in their journey towards academic excellence,” he added.
MARC is hopeful that the CSR initiative can pave the way for industry-academia collaborations and a continuous working relationship in the future.
