As part of Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad’s (MARC) CSR initiative for the year 2021, MARC made donations amounting to RM55,895 to the underprivileged on May 10, 2021. The donations comprised zakat deductions from MARC staff which were obtained from Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP).
The main recipients of this donation were 100 needy students selected by the Petaling Utama District Education Office. These students were represented virtually by teachers from their respective schools. Other beneficiaries included the National Cancer Council Malaysia (MAKNA) and ARBA International Waqf (L) Foundation (ARBA Foundation).
The donations were presented by MARC Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Jamaludin Nasir. In attendance were a delegation from the Petaling Utama District Education Office which was headed by Puan Hajjah Marhani M. Haniff, Assistant District Education Officer for the Student Development Sector. MAKNA was represented by its General Manager Puan Farahida Mohd Farid while Puan Najah Khalid, ARBA Foundation’s Public Relations Officer, attended on behalf of the foundation.
The donations were aimed at easing the beneficiaries’ burden and enabling them to make preparations to celebrate the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri in a meaningful way. MARC, together with MAKNA and the ARBA Foundation, also had the opportunity to discuss potential collaborations with the overarching theme of helping the needy. MARC looks forward to carrying out these, and other similar welfare schemes in the future.
