Arshad Mohamed Ismail is the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of MARC, and the Chief Executive Officer of MARC Ratings Berhad. He has vast experience in banking and finance, especially in the areas of corporate banking, debt capital markets, Islamic finance, asset management and development finance.
Before joining MARC, Arshad had helmed two of Malaysia’s key development finance institutions — first as President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad, and later as President and Chief Executive Officer of Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad (EXIM Bank). Prior to these appointments, he held leadership roles in Maybank Islamic Berhad and International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation in Kuala Lumpur, Al Hilal Bank in Abu Dhabi, Aayan Capital in Jeddah, and HSBC Amanah in Dubai, among others.
Arshad holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia as well as a Master of Business Administration from the London Business School, United Kingdom. He is a Chartered Banker with the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers and the Chartered Banker Institute, United Kingdom. In 2015, Arshad was elected to the SC-OCIS Fellowship in Islamic Finance at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies.
