MARC employees celebrate at the summit of Mount Kinabalu after successfully completing the expedition, held as part of the organisation's 30th Anniversary celebrations.
As part of its year-long 30th Anniversary celebrations, Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad (MARC) successfully concluded a Mount Kinabalu expedition and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, reaffirming its commitment to giving back to the community while celebrating a significant corporate milestone. The four-day programme, held from 5 to 8 July 2026 at Kinabalu Park, Sabah, brought together MARC employees for a combined community engagement and symbolic climb of Malaysia's highest peak, reflecting the organisation's 30-year journey and enduring pursuit of growth and progress.
Under the CSR initiative, MARC presented essential outdoor wear comprising t-shirts, ponchos and bibs to 242 Mount Kinabalu guides and 90 Mount Kinabalu porters registered with Kinabalu Park, in recognition of their invaluable service and dedication to ensuring the safety and success of climbers on Mount Kinabalu. The contribution was formally presented to Persatuan Malim Gunung Kinabalu (PEMANGKINA) and Persatuan Porter Gunung Kinabalu Sabah (PPGKS) during a CSR Handover Ceremony held at the Sabah Parks Office, Kinabalu Park.
The programme also included MARC's Mount Kinabalu expedition, which culminated in the successful ascent of Low's Peak on 7 July 2026. The climb served as a symbolic milestone, reflecting MARC’s growth over the past three decades and its aspirations for the future.
Arshad Mohamed Ismail, MARC’s Group Chief Executive Officer, said the initiative reflects MARC's commitment to giving back to the community as it commemorates its 30th Anniversary, while reinforcing the values that have guided the organisation since its establishment in 1996.
"MARC’s 30th Anniversary is an opportunity not only to reflect on our journey over the past three decades, but also to create a meaningful and lasting impact beyond our organisation. The CSR initiative allowed us to commemorate the milestone in a purposeful way, while recognising the dedication and professionalism of the mountain guides and porters whose invaluable efforts make every successful climb possible," he said.
"Mount Kinabalu is a strong symbol of ambition and achievement. The climb to the summit is a powerful reminder that meaningful achievements are built on preparation, discipline, trust and collective effort. These are the same principles that have guided MARC over the past three decades, underpinning not only our growth but also the trust placed in us by our stakeholders. As we look ahead, this mindset will continue to shape how we create long-term value for our stakeholders and contribute positively to the communities we serve."
The expedition also strengthened teamwork and camaraderie among MARC employees while reinforcing the organisation's collaborative culture and focus on continuous progress. It reflects MARC's aspiration to create meaningful impact beyond its core business as it continues to build on its 30-year legacy.
